50 Menschen bilden eine Masse, die etwas in Bewegung setzen kann. Doch was bedeutet es, als Einzelner mitten unter 49 anderen zu stehen? Ist das Individuum gefährdet - oder geschützt? Welche Kraft entfaltet eine Gruppe, und welche Form von Gemeinschaft entsteht aus ihr?
Mit HAMONIM (hebr. für »Was die Masse bewegt«) widmet sich die Tänzerin und Choreografin Patricia Carolin Mai den Schutzmechanismen einer körperlichen Masse. Nach den ersten beiden Teilen der Trilogie BODIES IN STATES OF EMERGENCY untersucht sie in diesem Stück, was es braucht, um in einer Gruppe zu bestehen und Bestand zu haben.
Lokale Tanzbegeisterte bilden auf der Bühne eine Gemeinschaft, die die Bedingungen des Miteinanders erforscht und gängige Vorstellungen über Massenbewegungen infrage stellt. Während einer 11-tägigen Probenphase in der fabrik Potsdam entwickelten Patricia Carolin Mai und ihr Team ein intensives Gruppenerlebnis, das in einer öffentlichen Aufführung von HAMONIM mündet.
Seit der Premiere mit 70 Tänzer*innen im März 2019 am Kampnagel Hamburg gastierte HAMONIM unter anderem in Busan, Südkorea (2019), beim STAMP Festival, Atonale Hamburg (2019), am Ringlokschuppen Mülheim an der Ruhr (2020), in der TauberPhilharmonie Weikersheim (2022), beim Le danzatrici en plein air Festival in Ruvo di Puglia, Italien (2023) sowie beim Gender Bender Festival in Bologna, Italien (2023).
Im Zentrum steht stets die Beziehung zwischen Individuum und Masse und die Frage nach den Schutzmechanismen von Gemeinschaft. Gerade in Zeiten globaler Pandemien und bewaffneter Konflikte erhalten diese Fragen neue Brisanz: Bietet die Nähe zu anderen Menschen noch Schutz - oder birgt sie Gefahr? Und wie kann Gemeinschaft wieder auf eine menschliche und produktive Weise neu verhandelt werden?

With HAMONIM (Hebrew for ‘What moves the crowd’), dancer and choreographer Patricia Carolin Mai explores the protective mechanisms of a physical crowd. Following the first two parts of the trilogy BODIES IN STATES OF EMERGENCY, in this piece she examines what it takes to exist and endure in a group.
Local dance enthusiasts form a community on stage that explores the conditions of coexistence and questions common notions about mass movements. During an 11-day rehearsal period at fabrik Potsdam, Patricia Carolin Mai and her team developed an intense group experience that culminates in a public performance of HAMONIM.

The focus is always on the relationship between the individual and the masses and the question of the protective mechanisms of community. Especially in times of global pandemics and armed conflicts, these questions take on new urgency: Does proximity to other people still offer protection – or does it harbour danger? And how can community be renegotiated in a humane and productive way?
